“Azerbaijan Railways” records a 19% increase in passenger traffic

“Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC served nearly 8.5 million passengers in January–September of the current year. This figure is 19% higher than in the same period last year. In September alone, there was a sharp 24% rise in the overall volume of passenger transport.
Postxronika.az reports with reference to ADY that, during the reporting period, 8 million people traveled via the Absheron circular railway line. While 433,000 passengers used interregional routes, the number on the international Baku–Tbilisi direction exceeded 75,500. Modernization of the transport infrastructure and renewal of rolling stock have significantly increased citizens’ interest in railways.
Rail transport is becoming the population’s main choice as an economical and safe mode of travel. The rise in passenger flows is a clear example of improved service quality and the expansion of the route network. To meet growing demand, the organization continues work to optimize timetables.
