Two people were killed and eight others were injured in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The kingdom’s General Authority of Civil Aviation said that, among the injured, there are not only local residents but also foreign nationals. Following the attack, two more people died after the debris of another unmanned aerial vehicle that was shot down in the airspace fell near an oil refining facility.
Postxronika.az reports, citing the BBC, that a coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia managed to neutralize several drones directed at the country’s territory. Since the beginning of October, it has been reported that similar strikes targeting airports and energy facilities have killed dozens of civilians. Against the backdrop of deteriorating security conditions in the region, a number of Western countries have strengthened their defense measures and the security of their diplomatic missions.
Air strikes on strategic facilities in the Middle East pose a serious threat to regional stability and the security of the global energy market. Strikes on civilian infrastructure intensify the humanitarian crisis in conflict zones and lead to an increase in casualties among the civilian population. The potential expansion of the conflict makes it necessary for the international community to take prompt diplomatic steps aimed at reducing military tensions.
