She advised judokas to compete with pride at the tournament, to show respect to their opponents, and to do their best on the tatami. The Olympic champion also noted that, alongside medals, it is the character demonstrated by the athletes and the inspiration they give to future generations that will remain in people’s memory. Comăneci wished all participants an unforgettable world championship.
