Russia’s presidential aide Nikolay Patrushev claimed that Western countries are preparing plans to blockade the Baltic Sea and the straits that provide access to it.
Postxronika.az reports with reference to TASS that the chairman of Russia’s Naval Collegium said this during a trip to China, adding that other key sea routes are also under threat.
Patrushev said that the Western countries are trying to seize Russian ships and claimed that shipping in the Strait of Malacca could also be disrupted in various ways.
Taking into account the existing risks, he said that Russia is developing the Transarctic Transport Corridor as a safe and economically efficient alternative to traditional routes.
