1.6-Fold Increase Recorded in Online Ticket Sales
RH
In the first nine months of 2026, through the “biletim.az” portal, 941 thousand online tickets were issued, which is 1.6 times more than in the same period of the previous year. In January–September of this year, the share of e-tickets in total sales rose from 28% to 42%, while the special weight for advance sales increased from 36% to 48%. This positive trend indicates that passengers are placing more trust in digital platforms and are choosing to plan their trips in advance.
Postxronika.az reports, citing the press service of the Azerbaijan Rail Transport Agency, that currently, within the unified system, 426 vehicles operate across 97 routes at 61 locations. The phased rollout of electronic ticketing is intended to fully cover all bus terminals and carriers providing passenger transport services across the republic. Citizens are advised to obtain travel documents in advance via the official internet portal in order to ensure safe and comfortable travel.
The introduction of modern technologies makes it possible to improve the quality of services in the transport sector and eliminate queues at ticket offices. Passengers can book seats for any route within a few minutes using a mobile app or a website. This project, implemented as part of the digitalization efforts, ensures more transparent and flexible management of domestic passenger transport.
