CAS decides to allow Russian hockey teams to take part in international competitions

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled to allow Russian hockey teams to participate in international competitions. Under the decision, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) must ensure the participation of Russia’s national teams in tournaments scheduled for the 2026/2027 season.
Postxronika.az reports, citing TASS, that the ruling was issued based on an appeal by the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (FHR).
CAS overturned five decisions of the IIHF Council stating that it would be impossible to allow Russian teams to compete, and found the main demands of the Russian side to be well-founded.
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation said the decision is final and cannot be appealed. The body noted that it will work jointly with the IIHF to implement the decision and return the teams to international competitions.
