Hungary's parliament has voted to strip Prime Minister Peter Magyar, who faces a theft accusation, of his parliamentary immunity.
Postxronika.az reports, citing TASS, that 139 lawmakers voted in favor of the decision, with none against or abstaining.
Magyar is accused of taking a person's mobile phone during an incident at a nightclub in June 2024 and throwing it into the Danube. Prosecutors classify the incident as theft and say the phone was worth roughly 275 euros. Following the removal of his immunity, the prime minister can now be brought before a court on the case.
