Rəşid Məmmədəliyev will compete for a bronze medal at the World Championship in Baku

At the judo World Championship held in Baku, Azerbaijan’s national team member Rəşid Məmmədəliyev has secured a spot for the bout for third place. Competing in the -73 kg weight category, our athlete started the tournament from the 1/16 final, defeating representatives of Canada and Great Britain. In the quarterfinal, having lost to a French judoka, our representative continued his campaign by winning the consolation match against the Italian athlete.
Postxronika.az reports with reference to the Judo Federation that in the decisive bout our judoka will face the Brazilian representative Daniel Karnin. The final contests of the prestigious tournament, held at the National Gymnastics Arena, will begin at 18:00. Specialists, assessing our athlete’s potential highly, expect him to make it to the podium.
The analogous world championship taking place in the capital has attracted great interest from local fans. The organizers say that all the necessary conditions have been created to hold the championship at a high level. The sports community believes that the representative will perform successfully in the match for third place and bring a medal to the team.
