Trump's Peace Council unveils $2.45 billion plan to rebuild Gaza

US President Donald Trump's Peace Council has presented a $2.45 billion financing package covering 66 specific programs aimed at providing housing, building infrastructure, and meeting urgent humanitarian needs in the Gaza Strip, at a meeting held on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Jared Kushner, a member of the Reconstruction Program's Executive Board, and special envoy Steve Witkoff stressed they are fully committed to implementing the initiative, though experts say the action plan is facing serious delays.
"Postxronika.az" reports, citing the BBC, that despite $18 billion in pledges made for reconstruction work, only $280 million has been received by the fund so far, with total spending expected to reach $71 billion over the coming decade. In addition, the ceasefire plan has stalled due to sharp disagreements between Israel and Hamas over the withdrawal of military forces and disarmament, with strikes and the humanitarian crisis continuing in the region.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other officials have appealed to the international community, stressing the importance of increasing financial aid to the region. According to Peace Council representatives, large-scale construction work in the area will not be possible to begin until complex stages such as ensuring security and clearing unexploded ordnance and tunnels are completed.
